FAQ

Quoting and Product Details

What information do I need to provide if I want a custom panel?

To receive an accurate quote for a custom decorative privacy panel or fence topper, please include:

  • Panel dimensions (width and length)
  • Panel thickness
  • How you intend to mount the panel
  • Total quantity of panels
  • Panel design (pattern/style)
  • Panel color

If you have several panel variations, specify this information for each design. Complete details help us prepare your quote quickly.

I have a larger project with multiple panels and/or posts (fence line, fence toppers, screens). What info do I give?

In addition to the standard details above, please provide:

  • Overall project length and/or total number of panels
  • Desired layout of panels and posts (for example: panels mounted in front of posts to cover them, or between/behind posts)
  • Any project sketches or plans, if available

If possible, consult a contractor and have them contact us with project specifications. This helps us quote faster and recommend suitable panel and mounting options.

Can you make a panel that is not a rectangle (triangular, parallelogram, trapezoid, etc.)?

Yes, we can manufacture custom-shaped decorative panels and adjust the design accordingly. For non-rectangular panels, please provide:

  • All panel dimensions (exact length of each side)
  • All interior angles

Whenever possible, include a sketch with all measurements clearly marked.

What’s your biggest panel size?

Our maximum sheet size is 5.0’ x 10.0’ (60” x 120”, approx. 1.5 m x 3 m).
All panels must fit within these dimensions. For larger areas, we can split the design into multiple panels.

What panel thickness do you recommend for my project?
  • ⅛” – our standard and most popular thickness for decorative privacy screens, wall inserts, and fence inserts
  • 3/16” – recommended for added rigidity (gates, taller fence toppers, higher wind exposure)
  • ¼” – for especially durable, heavy-duty applications
  • ⅜” – thickest option; used only when explicitly required by project specifications

Steel decorative panels are available in the same thickness range but are heavier and will eventually rust outdoors. Aluminum is recommended for long-lasting, low-maintenance outdoor use.

Do you provide samples?

Color samples: You can purchase a pack of 3 samples (2” x 3”) made from ⅛” aluminum. Specify the colors for each sample in the Notes at checkout.

Thickness samples: You may request samples in ⅛”, 3/16”, ¼”, and ⅜”. Indicate desired thickness in the Notes.

We do not provide design samples, as each pattern is scaled individually. Black-and-white previews in product listings reflect actual production files.

Can I get a proof/model/3D visualization of the panel?

After invoice payment, we provide 2D black-and-white proofs of your custom panels. Standard-size panels already have design previews in product listings.
We do not provide 3D visualizations.

I need shop drawings/engineered drawings. Can you provide them?

By default, we do not share internal shop files. However:

  • You can provide your own approved shop drawings, and we will manufacture to those specifications.
  • For Ontario (Canada): Engineered drawings can be provided upon request and for an additional fee.

  • 24” x 36” = approx. 6–7 lbs
  • 24” x 48” = approx. 8–9 lbs
  • 24” x 60” = approx. 10–11 lbs
  • 36” x 48” = approx. 12–13 lbs
  • 36” x 36” = approx. 9–10 lbs
  • 36” x 60” = approx. 15–16 lbs
  • 48” x 48” = approx. 12–13 lbs
What is the turnaround time for a custom order?

Typical production timeline is approximately 2-4 weeks, including quoting, proof preparation, your approval, and manufacturing. You will be notified once your order is ready to ship or for pickup.

How long does shipping take?

Standard shipping within Canada and the USA is approximately 3-7 days, depending on carrier workload and location. Delays due to weather, holidays, or high volumes are possible. A tracking number is provided and must be monitored by the customer.

If you will be away (vacation, etc.), let us know your return date and we can delay shipping accordingly.

Panel Installation and Mounting

Why aluminum instead of steel?

Aluminum:

  • Does not rust, ideal for outdoor decorative screens and privacy panels
  • Withstands sunlight, rain, and temperature changes
  • Is significantly lighter than steel, making handling, shipping, and installation easier
How do I install the panel?

Installation depends on the mounting option selected:

  • With pre-drilled holes: use appropriate screws for your surface (wood, metal, masonry, etc.) to attach directly.
  • With mounting tabs, flanges, or frames: secure sideways into your surface using appropriate screws.
Can you give installation advice?

Because our decorative aluminum panels can be mounted in many ways and we ship across Canada and the USA, we recommend consulting:

  • A local contractor
  • A specialist in mounting hardware

Use hardware suitable for your surface and compatible with 0.2" pre-drilled holes.

What does it mean to “sandwich” the panel?

“Sandwiching” means placing the panel between two frames (commonly wood). This:

  • Turns the panel into a framed insert
  • Adds structural support
  • Helps fit a smaller panel into a larger opening while keeping it secure
What are pre-drilled holes?

Standard panels include 0.2” (5 mm) pre-drilled holes around the perimeter (Option 1). These are used to mount panels with screws or nails.

What are countersink holes?

Countersink holes (Option 2):

  • Allow screw heads to sit flush with the panel surface
  • Provide a cleaner, more discreet mounting look
What are mounting tabs?

Mounting tabs (Option 3):

  • Are ¾”–1.0” long
  • Cut as part of the panel and bent 90°
  • Ideal for mounting panels to posts or non-flat surfaces

Visual examples are available on the Decorative Privacy Screens page.

What are flanges?

Flanges (Option 4):

  • Are bent 90° along the full length of one or more sides
  • Typically 1.25” or 1.5” long (custom sizes possible)
  • Add rigidity and make panels ideal for fences, screens, and open designs
  • Allow panels to be attached directly to each other without posts
What are the aluminum post add-ons?

They are:

  • Square aluminum posts in 2”, 2.5”, or 3” widths
  • Available with or without a welded base plate
  • Wall thickness ⅛”

Posts with base plate = Add-on 1 (free-standing posts).
Posts without base plate = Add-on 2 (in-ground or side-mount posts).

What is the welded frame add-on?

Welded frame (Add-on 3 / Option 7):

  • Aluminum frame with your panel welded inside
  • Ideal when you want a complete screen or gate-style structure
What are standoff caps/spacers add-on?

Standoff caps (Add-on 4 / Option 8):

  • Approx. ¾” long spacers
  • Mounted between wall and panel to create depth
  • Perfect for backlighting and 3D visual effect
Why is mounting hardware not included in my shipment?

Because installation methods vary (walls, posts, concrete, wood, etc.) and we ship across Canada and the USA, we do not include generic hardware by default.

Panel Colors and Powder Coating

What is powder coating?

Powder coating is a durable finishing process:

  • Colored powder is electrostatically applied and oven-cured
  • Creates a long-lasting, scratch-resistant, outdoor-grade finish
  • Superior to traditional paint (no flaking, easier maintenance)
We scratched the panel. Can you provide touch-up?

Because we use powder coating, we cannot offer exact touch-up kits. We recommend:

  • Visiting a local hardware store
  • Choosing spray paint for metal in a closely matching colour
Can I have different colors on one panel (details in another color)?

No. Powder coating is applied as a single uniform layer across the entire panel, so multi-colour detailing is not available.

Can I order a custom color?

Yes, custom colours may be available:

  • Provide RAL / powder color code and finish type (glossy/matte, etc.)
  • Additional fees apply
  • Exact match to paint swatches cannot be guaranteed

Delivery via Freight Shipping

What is freight shipping?

Freight shipping is used for oversized or heavier shipments (typically over 150 lbs or beyond standard dimensions). Panels are shipped on skids via trusted freight carriers.

What is a skid?

A skid is a custom-built crate or base used to protect your decorative panels during freight shipping.

When do you use freight shipping?

For products exceeding standard courier size/weight limits

Please specify if the delivery address is residential or commercial

What are the freight shipping rules?
  • Delivery appointment is included; the carrier will contact you
  • Tailgate availability depends on carrier; we will inform you in advance
  • If you cannot accept delivery on proposed dates, storage fees (e.g. $75/day) may apply
  • If there is no tailgate, unloading must be completed within the first 30 minutes; extra time may be charged
  • All shipments are insured — inspect the skid upon delivery
  • If damage is visible, document it, note it with the driver, and you may refuse the shipment
What is an Importer Identity Form and why is my SSN needed (for USA customers)?

For freight shipments to individuals in the USA, U.S. Customs may require an Importer Identity Form:

  • SSN is used for customs clearance only and remains confidential
  • Alternatively, you can request a CBP assigned number instead of using your SSN and provide that to us

On-site Measurements and Installations

Can you take on-site measurements?

Yes, for projects in the GTA (Ontario):

  • Site visit fees start at $150 (non-refundable) and depend on location, area size, and complexity
  • Our team will take measurements, review project details, and prepare an initial quote
Do you offer on-site installations?

Yes, installation services are available in the GTA (Ontario):

  • Cost depends on project size, number of panels, and complexity
  • If a site visit was completed earlier, the cost of the site visit is cretited towards the installation
  • In-ground post installation and post hole drilling can be provided for an additional fee
